Solo Sisters Mysteries | Works by Design

The idea for Solo Sisters came from my love of mysteries and my continued frustration that women of a certain age weren’t portrayed in most books or TV shows like the real women I knew.

The woman I know are smart and funny, and many of them have lived through some challenging situations, including myself. We’re resourceful and savvy, curious and resilient.

I read mysteries of all kinds, and while I enjoy the procedurals, the private detective, the noir, and others, I especially like the character-driven cozy genre. The world can be so grim and violent at times, the cozy brings a touch of gentleness and humor. And, of course, justice.

Another element often lacking in the real world.

I love my characters. Each one reflects qualities I see in the women around me. Life’s not always sunshine and rainbows, but their deep bonds and unwavering spirits shine through.
